On April 20th 2015, on behalf of CUWC, Rector Bui Hong Hue welcomed JICA experts headed by Mr. Yuji Okayasu, policy advisor on urban environment.
During the talk, the two sides discussed about stimulating activities for establishing Training and Consultancy Center for Drainage and Sewerage Treatment in Vietnam. JICA experts also visited the college’s infrastructure, especially the laboratories, training workshops for water supply and drainage.
Through discussions, both sides agreed that drainage and sewerage treatment in Vietnam is a new field. Although a lot of drainage and sewerage works have been built, the number of technicians for managing and operating those works is very limited. Besides, the current training process is mainly focused on theory; thus, we are lack of staff with practical skills in accordance with the operation and management of drainage and sewerage treatment. Hence, the establishment of Training and Consultancy Center for Drainage and Sewerage Treatment is necessary as well as feasible.
Rector Bui Hong Hue confirmed that CUWC has many advantages and experience in water supply and drainage training. At present, CUWC has nearly 20 experienced teachers upgraded and advanced in other countries in water supply and drainage field. CUWC is the leading institution in Vietnam majoring in practical training for water supply and drainage with well-equipped and modern facilities. Every year, thousands of learners from urban and rural water supply and drainage companies all over Vietnam are trained in CUWC. Especially, CUWC has many years of experience in cooperating with the French Government, Denmark, Japan, etc… in water and environment training.
JICA experts highly appreciated CUWC’s training capabilities as well as experience, especially in water supply and drainage field – one of the keys to the success of the project.
